Nano Coatings, S.L. has the financial support of the European Commission through the SME instrument of the Horizon 2020 program for the industrialization of the Nano Coatings, S.L. production process, in the project “Innovative Technique for Large-Scale Production of Nano Coatings, S.L. to Reach Global Market of Synthetic Diamond”.
This project has received funding from the European Union Horizon 2020 research and innovation program under grant agreement No 779152.
The objective of this initiative is the development of large-scale production of synthetic diamonds by Laser-induced Chemical Vapour Deposition (L-CVD).
One of the main obstacles to the development of synthetic diamonds in large-scale applications is the lack of high performing low-cost industrial processes such as the one developed by Nano Coatings, S.L. In fact, the L-CVD technique developed enables the production of high-quality synthetic diamonds at low cost thanks to laser activation of different wavelengths in beam scanning mode and a vertical reactor optimised for this purpose. This unique process increases the speed of diamond growth and improves energy efficiency and versatility in the development of highly oriented single crystalline or polycrystalline materials, which extends the range of properties that can be obtained.
During the development of the project, Nano Coatings, S.L. will accelerate the innovation process by up-scaling the equipment and adapting an optimized automation of the continuous industrial process.
The ultimate goal of this project is to position Nano Coatings, S.L. as a major high quality and inexpensive synthetic diamond supplier for the fastest-growing segments of the synthetic diamond market, namely jewellery, electronics, construction and mining.
